Brioche Knitting – Saturday 22 March 2025 (2-5pm) York

In this brioche knitting workshop, tutor Judith Schur introduces you to brioche knitting in one colour and two colours. Signed copies of Judith’s book, Brioche, will be available in class.

Brioche knitting creates an amazing, textured, reversible fabric. It is absolutely ideal for scarves, cowls, shawls etc. Introducing a second colour adds another dimension to the work. It creates interesting effects simply by carefully choosing your colours or switching between brioche knit and brioche purl.

Level: you will need to be an adventurous or a confident & experienced knitter to tackle this technique, but it is well worth the effort when you see the results that can be achieved.

In this class you will learn:
Brioche knit and purl
Knit Brioche in two colours
Purl Brioche in two colours

NB Equipment needed
Circular needles or dpn’s (you may find that you need to experiment with different sized needles so try to bring a selection if you can from 3mm to 5mm)

Tutor Judith Schur has loved knitting since she was a child and previously had her own yarn shop. She has a City and Guilds trained in Hand Knitting and Design and is passionate about sharing the knowledge and skills needed to get everyone knitting.

Each participant receives a 10% off voucher to spend online or put towards another workshop.

Access notice: there are two flights of stairs to the workroom in our medieval building at 32 Coppergate, York YO1 9NR. We sincerely apologise if this prevents anyone from attending.
